Bangs Laboratories Introduces QuantumPlex™ Kit for Various Research Applications including High Throughput Screening.

November 2000, Fishers, IN. Bangs Laboratories, a worldwide leader in microsphere products, set new standards in quantitative flow cytometry when it acquired Flow Cytometry Standards Corporation in early 2000. Bangs Labs is raising the bar yet again with QuantumPlex™.

QuantumPlex™ is an innovative new kit for multiple analyte-detection research applications in flow cytometry. A breakthrough in high throughput screening, QuantumPlex™ allows for detection of up to 10 different analytes per sample or efficient screening of multiple samples. The result? Flexible, efficient, and cost-effective throughput.

QuantumPlex™ kits consist of 5 or 10 bead sets, dyed with varying amounts of BLI's Starfire Red™ dye, which are suitable for use with any flow cytometer. Anti-Mouse IgG coating permits conjugation of mouse monoclonal antibody to each bead to detect up to 10 analytes per sample or multiple antibodies per bead for screening of multiple samples.

To produce QuantumPlex™, Bangs Laboratories began with two different sizes of "cell-sized" polymer beads and dyed both sizes with 4 different levels or intensities of dye. BLI's proprietary fluorochrome is excitable by either Ar or He/Ne laser with sharp emission in FL3 (and minimal carryover into FL1 or FL2). Dyed beads are then coated with our anti-Mouse antibodies. Each set consists of a blank bead population plus four narrow and cleanly separated peaks, with no overlap, corresponding to the four different levels of fluorescence. BLI lab testing demonstrates that each bead population will collect mAb-FITC complex.
