Bangs presented the 17th offering of the popular, international course "Designing Microsphere Based Tests and Assays" at the Walt Disney World® Resort in Florida from October 1 - 4 , 2006. Did you miss the course but still want information shared by our revered speakers and colleagues? Well, you're in luck!! We have copies of the course book which you can purchase for $395 + shipping. Please contact us to reserve your copy.
Formerly called "Diagnostic Applications of Latex Technology, Theory and Practice" (The Latex Course ), the new course still includes polystyrene "latex" microsphere applications such as latex agglutination tests and assays. However, it also covers newer applications of "latex" and larger beads such as high-throughput screening, flow cytometry, multiplex bead assays, immunochromatographic rapid tests, plus fluorescent and superparamagnetic bead applications.
The course covers the basics of microsphere (latex) and magnetic particle-based diagnostic test development from R & D through manufacturing and production control. The broadly applicable technology is used in human healthcare screening tests and assays, veterinary and agricultural tests, assaying for toxic chemicals in foods, water, and the general environment, high throughput screening (HTS) in pharmaceutical research, flow cytometry, and molecular biology. Practical details of latex (or microsphere) preparation, processing, formulation, properties, and characterization will be given. The course offers a solid information base for those involved in this rapidly growing and evolving technology. Course content is continually revised in response to input from previous participants and includes extensive hand out materials.
